A Critical Analysis of Myths About Dissociative Identity Disorder

In a review of the literature in this journal, Piedfort-Marin et al. (1921) identified what they purported to be myths about dissociative identity disorder (DID) and amnesia. When responding these beliefs, supported Trauma Model dissociation argued for causal etiological link between trauma conditions. contrast, challenged Sociocognitive (SCM), which claimed rejects existence DID associated disorders (e.g., amnesia) considers symptoms byproduct fantasy, suggestion, iatrogenic effect psychotherapies. article, we critically evaluate authors’ arguments propose more balanced, accurate, comprehensive view sociocognitive model. We demonstrate that model neither DID, nor potentially mediated by variety cognitive-affective-behavioral variables. argue, contrary al., tendency confabulate other cognitive sociocultural variables may also contribute development DID. contend multifactorial integrative perspective can move field beyond limited focus on controversies divide TM SCM models dissociation. Dans une revue de littérature parue dans ce (2021) ont relevé répondu à plusieurs croyances relatives au trouble dissociatif l’identité (TDI).
